“Yawar Nina” by Joan Alfaro

This artwork was made in 2016, the technique used was oil and acrylic on canvas. Although Alfaro’s art is characterized by the value it gives to the Peruvian Andean culture from a surrealist perspective, this artwork is one of the maximum representations of it. Yawar Nina is a girl dressed as a scissor dancer, this being one of the most characteristic ancestral expressions of the highlands of Peru.
